Successfully represented malpractice insurer in two-week jury trial where insurer refused to pay amounts billed to it by former defense counsel because bills for legal services appeared inflated; jury awarded the plaintiff less than 15% of his invoices and upheld insurer's counterclaim; Liquor Liability Joint Underwriting Association v. Hermitage Insurance Co., 419 Mass. 316 (1995). Successfully represented Liquor Liability Joint Underwriting Association of Massachusetts in liquor liability insurer before SJC against GL carrier in recovering contribution to defense costs and full amount of settlement when GL carrier refused to participate; Jimmy's Diner, Inc. v. The Liquor Liability Joint Underwriting Association, 410 Mass. 59 (1991). Successfully represented Liquor Liability Joint Underwriting Association of Massachusetts in first appellate decision to construe liquor liability policy; Poznik v. Nichols, Suffolk Superior Ct., No. 89-6470 (1991). Successfully represented Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association in first case in Massachusetts to determine trigger of coverage for lead paint injury under homeowner's policy; Kantany v. The Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. et al., 34 Mass. App. Ct. 1115 (1993). Successfully represented Firestone Tire & Rubber Company at trial and on appeal in obtaining specific performance of right of first refusal against commercial landlord and multiple damages and over $100,000 in attorneys' fees against seller; Testa v. Children's Hospital, 45 Mass. App. 1105 (1998). Successfully defended on appeal Children's Hospital against claim that jury verdict against Hospital in excess of $20,000,000 should not be subject to charitable limitation on liability; Pierce v. Christmas Tree Shops, Inc., 429 Mass. 91 (1999). Successfully represented Harvard Pilgrim Health Care in first case in Massachusetts to uphold the right of a medical lienholder to enforce a subrogation clause in a subscriber certificate against claims that the lienholder must contribute to a plaintiff's attorney's fees.

Successfully defended The Medical Malpractice Joint Underwriting Association of Massachusetts (“JUA”) after 10-day trial in a bad faith case brought by excess insurer where JUA failed to settle underlying claim, resulting in approximately $9,000,000 judgment against insured; Colonial Gas Co. v. The Aetna Cas. & Sur. Co., 823 F.Supp. 975 (D.Mass. 1993). Obtained summary judgment for public utility seeking coverage for claims arising from installation of urea-formaldehyde foamed-in-place insulation (UFFI); Travelers Insurance Company v. Waltham Industrial Labs, 883 F.2d 1092 (1st. Cir. 1989). Successfully represented insurer in leading case in First Circuit on environmental waste insurance coverage.
